Antique Edwardian Motoring Duster Coat
SOLD
This is a delightful lightweight antique duster coat, circa 1910. These coats were meant to keep the road dust and dirt from a lady’s clothing when riding in one of those newfangled automobiles. It is quite similar to one worn in the Avonlea series by Aunt Hetty.
This single breasted coat is very fitted with princess seams and features superb baby blue and white embroidered floral design on the collar and gathered sleeve caps. There are flap pockets on each side, side slits, and deep turn up cuffs. It fastens at center front with very large abalone shell buttons. At the back of the neck is sewn a name tag “Vining”.
In excellent condition – very wearable. The only flaw is that the top button is missing. Very clean with only a dark smudge near the right pocket on the front. Near the upper middle back, there is a small pin hole.
Measurements: Bust: 34” Waist: 30” Hips: 34” Shoulders: 14 ½” Sleeve: 24” (approximately because of the cuffs) Length: 49 ¼” (from center back neck to bottom of hem)
