This darling vintage pink and white large check print Swirl wrap dress will be the favorite sun dress in your closet!

It features a shirred neckline and inverted box pleats at the waist with little cap sleeves. The self-fabric belt (tie) on the right side is inserted in the seam on the left side while the tie on the left wraps to the right so that it ties closed in the front. The only other closure is with the signature swirled design plastic button at the center back neckline.

The skirt is decorated with a band of 2” wide machine lace with a piece of almost ½” wide scalloped lace edging above and below that.

My opinion, based on knowing that Swirl dresses were made shorter in the early 1960s, is that this particular dress dates to that time period. There is also a vintage McCalls Swirl Dress pattern #6617 that dates to 1962 that has a similar bodice – neckline and sleeves.

The hem is rolled, so there is no ability to lengthen the dress.

Label:  Swirl -The Swirl label is fully intact, but there is a label below it (probably a size label) that is shredded.

Fabric: Cotton

Condition: Excellent. The only comment is that the scalloped lace edging was originally attached with two lines of machine stitching. As seen in the detail photo, the top of the edging was not caught by the machine stitching. It is held solidly in place by the second line of stitching. This is original to the dress and is not considered a flaw.
